This group now has 28 members compared with 27 last year and we could accept more.  Average attendance is about 10.  We have continued with last year’s development by many having lunch together after an outing.  The social aspect of this group cannot be over-estimated, whether by strolling through nature or lunching together.  Obviously we’re weather-dependent and have certainly suffered cancelled events where use of a WhatsApp group chat has made it bearable for last-minute changes.  WhatsApp also allows sharing of photos when out walking alone and much more input (compared with emails) from members acting as outing leaders.  We meet on the second Wednesday and fourth Friday of most months although the winter months are relatively bleak for observations of nature.  Our outings cover virtually all environments and all components of nature, including wildflowers, trees, birds, insects, mammals etc etc                                                                                                                   Two of next sessions will be led by rangers at Holyrood and Aberlady Bay.                                                                       The main requirements for enjoying this group are a keen eye and especially curiosity.
