Membership is open to all who are not in full-time employment and is able to join activities based largely in Penicuik and the surrounding area. The majority of these activities are held in daytime.

We are the only u3a in Midlothian.

The subscription for 2026-2027 will be £16, like this year. Members joining after January 1st and valid until our March AGM 2027 will pay a reduced subscription of £6.

The full subscription is due at our AGM on the third Thursday in March. Payment can be made by bank transfer to Penicuik and District u3a, (sort code 80-09-39 and account 06001451)  or in cash at a guest speaker meeting.

The subscription covers the cost of guest speaker meetings, administration, national affiliation fees which provide insurance cover and support services (e.g. website), appropriate licences and delivery of a national magazine with five editions annually.

The annual subscription does not cover the cost of any group activities as they are all self-supporting.

A prospective member may attend a maximum of two monthly or two activity group meetings (if spaces are available) as a guest before deciding to join our u3a. To put your name on a group waiting list, you need to be a u3a member.
