There are 11 members in the group meeting mainly on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (apart from July and August) in Penicuik Library. The members have shared material discovered on their respective family histories. Support and advice has also been shared on how to start research, where to find useful information such as websites and regional archives and how to record findings. We learn from each others research experiences.
Outings have been held to Peebles cemetery for a Commonwealth War Graves tour coupled with successfully finding the headstone for a members ancestors plus a visit to the Cowan family’s ex-home (now owned by Jane Kelly) for a look at local period documentation. A further outing is being organised to the National War Museum at Edinburgh Castle.
